My Course:
For my first hike, I walked 3 out of the 5 days recommended by the "Japan Long Trail Guidebook" for walking between Kuji and Hachinohe, from a train station around Taneishikaihin Park (種市海浜公園) working my way up toward Hachinohe. This is because the recommended route for the first three days is 9 km, 25.7 km, 21.6 km going from north to south, and I wanted to end on a light day. In retrospect, though, maybe starting at Hachinohe was a better idea, because it might have been less easy to get lost (the signs seem to be more suited for coming from Hachinohe) and because Hachinohe is more convenient access-wise.

Day 1: After staying at Hachinohe, I got off at Taneichi station. Hiked northward 21.6 km. Stayed at Tsutsuji no Mori Campsite.

Day 2: Hiked 25.7 km. Guidebook said I could stay at Tanesashi Campground but I really wanted a bath and a bed. Stayed at "Shiho" and don't regret it one bit. If I could do it again, I'd make a reservation so I could have a nice dinner and breakfast with them.

Day 3: Hiked 9 km. Reunited with my beloved Hachinohe and said hello to seagulls. Returned home to Iwate via shinkansen.

Recommended Courses:
On the front of each official map, you`ll find suggested section hike courses one to two days long. They even have this green graph-looking thing that shows the distance between each point and the elevation change.
